Stripe setup

FileFreight uses your Stripe account for every sale. Buyers pay you directly; we never hold your money. You connect your account once, through Stripe Connect.

Connect your account

  1. On your dashboard, click Connect with Stripe.
  2. Stripe asks for your business and payout details. If you already use Stripe, sign in and it pre-fills what it can. This creates a Stripe account for your FileFreight sales, with its own full Stripe Dashboard.
  3. When Stripe sends you back, your dashboard shows the account as connected. If Stripe still needs something, the Continue Stripe setup button takes you back to finish it. Buy links check out as soon as Stripe enables payments on the account.

FileFreight never sees or stores your Stripe keys. It keeps only your Stripe account ID and creates Checkout Sessions on your account through Stripe Connect.

How it fits together

When a buyer clicks Buy now on /buy/<slug>, a Stripe Checkout Session is created on your Stripe account and the buyer is redirected to Stripe. The payment settles to your account. On the Free plan, Stripe deducts a 5% platform fee from each payment as an application fee; on Pro there is none. Stripe then notifies FileFreight, and the verified event fulfills the order.

Refunds

Refund a sale from your Stripe Dashboard as usual. FileFreight revokes the buyer’s download link and license keys and returns the platform fee on the refunded amount to your account.
